Geography is one of the subjects that students here in the UK typically target for an A* in their GCSEs or A-Levels. Why is it then that international students often find the subject difficult when they first start their studies in the UK? In this masterclass, we will examine the core principals of an excellent answer and the common pitfalls that students fall into.
To put together the perfect answer for Common Entrance, GCSEs or A-Levels students need to:
1. Understand the theory and the keywords for each topic;
2. Remember the diagrams for physical geography; and
3. Apply case study knowledge accurately.
Students typically drop marks by missing one of these key elements. Throughout this masterclass, we will use a GCSE question to examine how these techniques can be used to maximum effect. We will look in particular at how the case study must be adapted to the question at hand.
