Comparison between a project essay and an A Level essay

We are often asked the questions such as  "what is the difference between an essay prize essay and A level essay?" and "why should I use your service if my school tutor can help me with essay writing?". Here we have put together some of the similarities and differences between a project essay and an A-Level essay.

Similarities

• The overall structure is basically the same, both of which need an introduction, a body and a conclusion.

• The structure of the main body paragraphs is basically the same, which includes argument, invoked theories, evidence (examples, statistics, etc.) and explanation/evaluation).

Differences

Essay project essay

• A more general question--the student is expected to find their own perspective to narrow down the question and approach the question.

• Argument and back-up content--the student is expected to do the research and read extensively around the topic to find the cutting angle to the question and have an argument. Argumentation and evidence should come from the student's reading. (DIY Research).

• Citation and Referencing--the student should use accurate citation and reference style to write their essay; they need to quote or summarise accurately to support their arguments.

• Aim--independent, extra-curriculum research on a research question.

A level Essay

• A more specific question--the question is easier to address as it is clearer and the student should focus on the question.

• Main body content--90% of the argument points and evidence are taught in school. The student should have learned the content already.

• Citation and Referencing: Not necessary.

• Aim--answer the question based on the content the student has learned.
