Resource of the Week - General Maths Dictionary

Our resource this week is a General Maths Dictionary from MathSphere. These are key terms to support any primary student with revising their understanding of Maths. You can download the resource by visiting the Maths resources section on our website or download it directly by clicking here.

This is a great resource for students to use to develop their understanding of how to answer Maths questions using key terms. The resource provides an explanation of each key term as well as helpful examples. The resource itself is explanatory, however, below is our guidance for students when studying Maths:

  • Don’t forget to include the correct units when providing your answer. If you are working on the area or volume of a shape, remember that it is units² for area and units³ for volume.

  • Make sure you are comfortable using your calculator correctly and have practised doing so beforehand.

  • Make sure you check every page of an examination paper, including the very last page as there may be a question on the back.

  • Make sure your working is clear so that your teacher can understand your thinking.

  • Show as much of your working-out as possible. Most marks will come from this evidence.

  • Practise as much as you can using past papers to apply your knowledge and track your progress.

We hope that this resource will be used to aid students’ understanding of key terms in Maths. From all of us at Libra Education, never stop learning!
