Tuition: the value of a mock exam

Mocks and Progress Assessments are vital in making sure that you stay on track.

If you do well, we have the proof and you can build your confidence. If you don’t do well, we have the opportunity to make adjustments. Either way, mocks exams mean you’re sorted either way. If we don’t have up-to-date information on your current level of performance, we cannot make suggestions and provide effective coaching to improve.

Why we do mocks

By signing with Libra Education, you make quick strides forward that are tracked in real-time allowing us to make interventions and guide lesson content, homework and tuition approaches to maximise progress. Whilst an individual tutor can provide homework and tests, they do not have a cohort of students against which to benchmark success and progress. By conducting mocks with all our students, we have the requisite level of oversight.

If we carry out mocks at regular intervals, we will gather numerous data points to allow us to see your average performance. We need to make sure that the exam is not left to chance. You need to be practiced in exam conditions and know that you will 100% get your grades. That means repetition and analysis at regular intervals.

When we do mocks

Our students take mocks at three vital points as a minimum. The first is done immediately when you start your tuition with us. We like to know what your starting point is and it gives us crucial data to know how much we have to do. The second is done at the mid-point of your work with us – this is a good check to see if we’re making enough progress, or if we need to make any changes. The final mock is done just before your last lesson with us. This is a confidence builder. By this point, you’ll have everything you need to succeed and the final mock is a quick check-in to make sure all is still in order.

Getting your feedback

Your tutor will set each mock and mark it with you in the following lesson. You’ll get question-by-question feedback and guidance so you have no doubt where you can improve. The mocks are a crucial element of the Results Guarantee. We can see how you are doing, make changes if needed, and make sure you get the grades you want. If you don’t, you’ll get your money back.
