Essay Prizes for English
GOULD PRIZE FOR ESSAYS IN ENGLISH LITERATURE (TRINITY)
An annual competition for Year 12 or Lower 6th students, between 1,500 and 2,500 words on a topic to be chosen from the list of questions. Reopens in February of every year.
THE ROBINSON COLLEGE ESSAY PRIZE
Open to all students currently in Year 12 (Lower Sixth, or equivalent) at a UK School, it is designed to give students the opportunity to develop and showcase their independent study and writing skills.
THOMAS CAMPION ENGLISH PRIZE
Open to all students in year 12 or equivalent, regardless of nationality or school country. Essays must be between 2,000 and 4,000 words including footnotes and appendices.
THE KEATS-SHELLEY PRIZE
Essayists can explore any aspect of the life or work of the Romantic writers. Poets respond to a theme which changes from one year to the next with their own original poem or essay.
THE YOUNG ROMANTICS PRIZE
For poets and essayists aged between 16 and 18, entrants are asked to writing their own original poem or essay in response to a theme from the Romantics which changes from one year to the next.
