R.A. BUTLER POLITICS PRIZE
The R.A. Butler Prize for essays in Politics and International Studies is a competition that can be entered by students in Year 12 or the Lower 6th. Candidates are invited to submit an essay up to 3,500 words, including all footnotes and references but excluding the bibliography. Questions are announced in March each year, and essays submitted in August.
LSE UNDERGRADUATE POLITICAL REVIEW ESSAY PRIZE
This essay prize held by the LSE Undergraduate Political Review provides a chance to engage with a topic and explore ideas and thoughts in a new way. Entrants must be yet to complete their A-Level studies, IB or equivalent, i.e. about to begin year 12 or 13 of secondary school or equivalent. The word limit is 1000 words.
THE JOHN LOCKE INSTITUTE ESSAY COMPETITION
Entry is open to students from any country and any school. Each essay should address only one of the questions in your chosen subject category, and must not exceed 2000 words. There is a prize of £100 for the best essay, and the essay will be published (with the authors' permission) on the Institute website.
NCH ESSAY COMPETITION
Held by the New College of Humanities, this competition invites essay entries of 1,500 words from students who are currently in their penultimate year of secondary education (Y12 equivalent in England) with a selection of essay titles engages across a broad range of humanities and social sciences topics (including politics) with cash prizes on offer.
PEMBROKE NORTH ESSAY PRIZE
The Pembroke North Essay Prize is open to state school students in the North West of England. With a choice of essay questions within the three categories of Humanities, Science and Social Science, essay questions are published in early summer, and entrants work on their essays between 1,500 and 2,000 words over the summer vacation between Years 11 and 12.
