Libra Essay Prize 2021 - Winners Announced
The Libra Essay Prize competition for 2021 has now concluded and we are excited to announce our three winners in this article. You can find the winners and links to their winning essays below. Before doing so, it is worth noting the hard work and effort in the essays submitted. Our judges were thoroughly impressed; all of the students who participated have done themselves and their schools proud.
The Libra Essay Prize is an excellent way for 6th form students to demonstrate that they have the makings of a scholar; it is a chance to prepare for the academic rigour required by university assignments and provides a great accomplishment to discuss on a personal statement or at interview. With inspiration from the admissions process at All Souls College, Oxford – known as ‘The hardest exam in the world’ – students were required to write an essay responding to one of the single-word essay titles below:
NATURE
CHANGE
LANGUAGE
THOUGHT
TIME
CULTURE
In a large and high-quality field, several answers stood out from the rest. These answers took on challenging questions and set about answering them in an engaging, creative, and thorough manner. The shortlisted candidates of the Libra Essay Prize 2021 focused on a range of topics. Whilst some students tackled life’s larger questions, others focused on a narrower brief allowing themselves more time to elaborate on the finer points being considered. Both approaches were appreciated and were equally well executed. We are delighted to announce the winners of The Libra Essay Prize 2021 and hope that by displaying their work we might inspire the next generation of academic writers to pick up their pen.
