Resource of the Week - GCSE Maths Revision & Exam Tips

Our resource this week is a GCSE Maths revision guide from the Bicester school. These are key tips to support any student with revising for their GCSE Maths examination. You can download the resource by visiting the Maths resources section on our website or download it directly by clicking here.

This is a great resource for students to use to develop their understanding of how to revise for GCSE Maths. The resource provides an explanation of the main methods for effective revision as well as a helpful summary of tips for during the examination itself. The resource itself is explanatory, however, below is our guidance for students when studying for their Maths examination:

  • Revise extensively through applying your knowledge to past examination papers. If there is a topic you are unsure about, research the topic online.

  • Research the exam paper. In the exam, you should already know how many questions you have to answer on that paper and how long you have to do it.

  • Answer as many questions as you can to maximise the marks you can receive; try to spread your time equally between the questions as appropriate to avoid rushing the paper or spending too much time on particular questions.

  • Towards the end of the exam, check the time remaining and the number of questions remaining. If you are running out of time then try to score as many marks as possible by concentrating on easier questions or any questions unanswered.

  • The number of marks is given in brackets [ ] at the end of each question. This shows you how many steps are needed and therefore how much time you should spend on each question.

We hope that this resource will be used to aid students’ understanding of GCSE Maths. This should enable students to improve their revision and preparation for their GCSE Maths examination. From all of us at Libra Education, never stop learning!
