Study Resource: Pomodoro Timer
Do more in less time?
It sounds fantastic and seemingly impossible. Whatever subject you are studying or assignment you are completing, the pomodoro technique can come in use to help you achieve more in less time. The resource itself you already own, a timer.
How does it work?
Setting a 25-minute timer, get started on your first task. Once the 25-minute timer stops, take a 5-minute break. Repeat this ‘pomodoro’ four times, then you have earned a 15-30 minute break before you begin the cycle again. Try planning out how you will use these chunks of time and see how much more you are able to achieve.
Why does it work?
The technique is particularly effective as it keeps you working at your most productive, with the promise of an upcoming break. Having a guaranteed window of time to check your phone, make a hot drink or have a snack will stop you from being distracted and doing it during your work time. The 25-minute windows naturally break up your most difficult tasks into manageable chunks.
Give it a go and see the difference it makes to the way you study.
