Wealth Project
This course is designed for students to gain a deeper understanding of how money works and introduce them to managing their finances effectively. Students will be introduced to monetary value, saving and investing money, currency and exchange, as well as key concepts regarding the global economy, stock markets and investments. Students construct a portfolio of investments and savings to present in their final session.

Wealth Project
A course to develop student understanding of money and financial management for their future.
The course is aimed at older secondary school aged students (15-18) years old.
Course timings and dates:
16th-20th August 2021
9am-11am UK time each day
The first session each day is from 9am-10am followed by a short break. The second session of the day begins at 10.15am and finishes at 11.15am.
The maximum number of students within each group will be 6 students.
Course requirements:
A computer with good internet access.
Zoom with permissions enabled for students to share screen and seek remote support.
Basic understanding of how to use Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
30 minutes of independent planning tasks between sessions.
Learning outcomes: By the end of the course, the student will have:
• Improved their understanding of financial management and investment.
• Developed an understanding of the global economy.
• Created a portfolio with analysis of investments and savings.
This course is an excellent chance for students to develop their understanding of finance and prepare them for successful decision making for their own economic prosperity.
Course Structure
Session 1:
Key Monetary Concepts
Students are introduced to key monetary concepts including expenditure, interest rates, investment, budgeting, assets, cash flow and currency exchange.
Session 2:
Saving Money
Students study different methods of saving money, the difference between short-term and long-term savings and how to evaluate savings.
Session 3:
Budgeting
Students study the different components of a budget and how they are decided before studying profit and loss as well as other determining factors.
Session 4:
Evaluating Investments part I
Students study different types of investments and the type of risk/reward they can provide before evaluating suitable clients.
Session 5:
Evaluating Investments part II
Students continue to study different types of investments and focus on evaluating a range of investments by examining real life case studies.
Session 6:
The Stock Market
Students study the stock market and how it operates before examining how risk is analysed and accounted for on the stock market.
Session 7:
Evaluating Investments part III
Students continue to study several case studies of different investment options and evaluate their strengths and weaknesses.
Session 8:
Evaluating Investments part IV
Students learn different tools for analysing, evaluating and selecting different investment options.
Session 9:
Forecasting Growth
Students learn different methods of forecasting the growth of investments.
Session 10:
Presentations & Feedback
Students present their analysis of a global portfolio of investments and savings to their peers.
